How did EduCom begin?
It started by leaving Medical Biochemistry and turning to Education in 1975
teaching physics, grades 11 and 12.
In 1976, Dentry introducted AP physics (B and C) to River-East Collegiate in Winnipeg.
Physics B was non-calculus, and Physics C was the Calculus base physics.
In 1966, whilst working on his B.Sc. degree (Physics and Chemistry), Dentry included some computer science courses
starting with the ForTran language.
The computer science led Dentry intro writing code for several projects plus getting involved in building micro-computers
and working with the APPLE-1 and APPLE-II computers.
Thus, the beginning of EduCom.
In 1978, Dr Peter Prystupa asked Dentry to teach two courses from the class 1 Power Engineering and 1 course from the class 2 Power Engineering.
This resulted in Dentry instructing both the 5th and 4th class power engineering courses for the Winnipeg School Division and
the St Vital (now the Louis Riel) school divisions for 45 years.
Also, in 1978 Dentry was approached by the Winnipeg School Division to get involved with a summer education programme involving
the new arrival of the Vietnamese Boat people. This programme last for several years.
EduCom continues to provide education and training.
